Exuberance, that is the best word to describe the atmosphere on Sunday at Dignity Health Sports Park. The stadium erupted after Club América beat Tigres in the SuperCopa MX match, crowning themselves champions and lifting yet another trophy. This victory made it four trophies won in a span of one year. This is a truly a remarkable accomplishment for André Jardine’s side, completing a quadruple of accolades. Plus, with the number of absences the team had, this achievement will mean that much more to them. As this was the last game before the start of the Apertura 2024 season, América had a rough start in the first half but managed to come back and see the game through. This match left plenty of questions still to be asked of this team, but overall, it will be embedded into the history books of Las Águilas.

Champions Again: Club América's Quadruple Triumph

Club América’s Victory Main Takeaway

In short, the biggest takeaway from this game is that América won yet another trophy. Yet, the underlying takeaway is that América won this game with a good enough performance from their bench players. Coming into this match, Club América were slightly edged by Tigres on paper. With more than eight absences in this team due to players on international duty and players leaving in the transfer window, there was a bit of doubt about which América side would show up. The majority of the players out are day-to-day starters, which meant a good portion of the bench would see minutes.

The game presented a chance of vindication for the likes of Nestor Araujo and Emilio Lara. It also offered an opportunity to clinch a starting position for players like Santiago Naveda and Javairô Dilrosun. Even with the shaky start and going down early in the game, the players stepped up to the occasion and performed well. The difference in the starting eleven and the bench is still noticeable, but the gap seemed less this past Sunday.

Quadruple Triumph Significance

It’s become a habit at this point for Club América to lift trophies and it just seems natural for fans to celebrate title after title. With this addition of silverware to their ever -growing trophy cabinet, América achieves a quadruple of trophies. The prominence of this achievement should be highlighted by the fact that not many teams in the world of football can come close to what this team has achieved. A dynasty team is in the making, but there still plenty to be done to achieve this status. It’s early days in the transfer window, and keeping the key core players of Jardine’s system will be no easy task. However, if América retains these players and continue to add quality with new signings, it could be argued that this team may rival the great 1980’s side.

What’s Next for Club América?

Celebrations will have to be cut short for this team. The start of the season is just around the corner. In less than a week’s time, América will travel to face off against Atletico San Luis to start the Apertura season. A good number of players will be returning the team this upcoming week from international duty, which is good news for América. Plus the clock continues to wind down in the transfer market as the team will be eager to finalize some transfers and get the team fully reinforced as soon as possible.
